Music-Electronics
This is not a service per se, but I thought I would take
this opportunity to share my thoughts
on electronic music with you.
In general i make a distinction between sound
produced using electromechanical means and
Sound produced using electronic technology.
Examples of electromechanical devices producing sound include;
the telharmonium, the Hammond organ, or the electric guitar.
Purely electronic sound production can be achieved using devices
such as the Theremin, sound synthesizer, Computer
and music software with midi controllers.
In combination with mixing systems, and never forget vinyl records.
Vinyl records are dirty glamour and have a great sound.
Electronic music was once associated almost exclusively with
Western art music. Since the late 1960′s the availability of
affordable music technology has meant that music
produced using electronic means became increasingly
common in the popular domain.
Today’s electronic music includes many varieties
and ranges from experimental music to popular forms
such as electronic dance music working with VJ’s.
Video performance artists and DJ’s can work together
to make beautiful and amazing things happen for
theaters, live music performances and dance events.
I first got infected by the electronic music bug in 1993.
Since then I have kept on absorbing and processing
the electronic sounds and compositions I have encountered
through the years. In the future Mediatoop intends to
produce his own music, and who knows, maybe even
my first album. Watch this space!
Some of my electronic music friends and relations.
